The main road out of Bocas Town runs along the eastern coast of the island to Bluff Beach, our favorite spot so far, about a five mile bike ride away. There is only one other main road which splits off of the Bluff Beach road and runs to to Boca del Drago on the northwest tip of the island.
From Bocas town, it is a about a thirty minute bus ride over the hills and through the jungle. From the bus stop, you walk along the west coast, eventually arriving at Playa Estrella, which is a gauntlet of bars full of day trippers who come up by water taxi, complete with banana boat rides.
Beyond this gauntlet is a beautiful shallow cove known as Starfish Beach. Nice place just to lay in the shallows and enjoy the heat. (The water here was warmer than our shower.)
